But how did he get these skills, you might ask. Well, being raised by aarakocra, Heehk naturally learned how to fish, hide from predators, and sort things by shininess. He spent a while studying rocks, and so is now able to identify almost any rock he finds. The skill of wrapping presents is only applicable when aarakocra are the only others wrapping gifts; talons are a bit challenging to use when wrapping. Pros And Cons; PRO[+] Kind Heehk believes there is a spark of good in everyone and is willing to give those who want it a second chance. PRO[+] Loyal The saying “birds of a feather flock together” comes to mind, though in Heehk’s case, it’s more like “birds and people of a feather flock together.” PRO[+] Generous We all need help sometimes. Heehk likes to be the first one to offer someone in need a helping hand. CON[-] Curious About Monsters Most people scream and run away when they see a demon. Heehk stops and takes notes on its anatomy. CON[-] Impatient Heehk hates when he’s kept waiting for too long as his upbringing with aarakocra made him feel the need to constantly be doing something. CON[-] Forgetful Sometimes, Heehk can’t quite remember what he was in the middle of doing… What’s going on? History; To start our story, a young child was found in the middle of the woods by two aarakocra; Seehk and Heerras. The child had no apparent parents, and was in danger if the local werewolves found him. So, being the bird people they were, Seehk and Heerras took him in and named him Heehk, a combination of their names. As Heehk grew, he adopted the aarakocra culture, as it was all he knew. He learned to punctuate his speech with chirps, sounds they use to convey emphasis and to shade meaning, much as a human might through facial expressions and gestures. He also came to find it hard not to pluck away other people’s treasure and bring it back to his settlement to beautify it. After a while, Heehk wanted to know where he came from. His adoptive parents were naturally unable to answer his question, as they didn’t know themselves. What they were able to share, however, was how to get to the nearest human settlement. After some heartfelt goodbyes, Heehk set out to the village. Once there, he picked up more of a human accent and dropped the shreeks, trills, and whistles that punctuated his aarakocra speech. Another thing he gained was an interest in a human beverage called “beer”. At some point, Heehk was enjoying his drink at the tavern, when a ship captain snuck up behind him and knocked him unconscious. The swashbuckling bounty hunter then dragged him onto his ship, taking him to the newly re-discovered land of Ragnarok. But the bounty hunters never made it; a storm caused the ship to crash along one of the beaches. It was a miracle Heehk survived with how much damage was done to the vessel. As he came to, Heehk noticed a diamond shaped implant on his left wrist. Was that always there? He couldn’t quite remember… |
